HOT TOPIC OF THE WEEK

Tweets were coming fast and furious after reports went out about the status of BC Lions quarterback Casey Printers knee injury. Some say he's done, others say don't be so sure.

@FifthQtr It's all Casey all the time and there'll be more this afternoon too. Gotta love the web #BCLions #CFL

@TEAM1040:

@lionelwild

@CFL_News
Looks like the name Travis Lulay may be looming very large regarding the BC Lions chances this season. #CFL #BCLions #Printers #Lulay

@CalliCatBC1
Not worried about #BCLions QB position--Lulay and J-Jack can get it done. Just need team as a whole to settle & click. Almost there. #CFL

@Jammer19
is crying because his hero Casey Printers is out for the season. I think its time for the #BCLions to bring back Dave Dickenson #cfl

@ryan_batty:
With Printers out for season does this give the #Esks a chance at playoffs or a cross over from the East? #CFL

@BCLionsDen
All those writing off the #BCLions are underestimating Travis Lulay. He has the tools to star. Leadership, toughness and talent. #CFL

@GameTimeArt
Very sad that Printers is out for the season in BC.. That's a huge blow, but a great chance for Jackson to finally step up. #CFL

@lbwexpert
Will we be seeing "the Ginger" all year long with Printers out...we'll see today #bclions #cfl

The best from Facebook.com/CFL

Ticats at Als

Matt Theisen: montreal scores 37 points and make it look boreing... i fell alseep trying to watch the game... woke up to sportcenter

Peter A. Bergbusch: Ticats defence did a great job, great pass rush. The offence just didn't click, Cobb wasn't attacking the holes and only a couple of receivers were in the game. Then you give Montreal the time to score, and they do. I wasn't bored ... I just like CFL football.

George Aaron: The Als have so many assets--give em time and they will strike

Andrew Duxbury: It was clear that the als were trying to send the ticats a messeage but one day they will get what is coming to them......a beat down

Lions at Argos

Lisa Dragon: Lions almost had this one. Good on Parker. That was classic.

Michael John Pachal: that was a great game, but you'd think that with an optimistic pro football team and in a city of 5 million, there would be more than 19,709 in attendance :/

Rob Buchler: Two comebacks in a row for the Argos, maybe they really are for real this season...

Riders at Stamps

Brad Washington: That was a great game :)

Russ Germain: i dunno if it was that great. sure the Stamps won. But it was filled with lots of mistakes and errors and poor coaching choices.

Ottawa Rough Riders?

Darryl James Hegel: aww c'mon...Roughriders vs Rough Riders in a 9 team league is lame. South Park has already lampooned it, it's so lame it's funny.

L-A Gough: The league is too small for two teams to have the same name even if it is slightly different. Besides I like the Renegades

Janice Sutherland: The new Ottawa team is not the old Ottawa team, that team's history has nothing to do with this new team. New team, new name. They lost the right to the name Rough Riders the day they folded up the turf in 1996.

Ken Richardson: There's a lot of history connected to the Ottawa Rough Riders and it would be fitting for a new Ottawa franchise to be called the Rough Riders.

Matt Vegas: Saskatchewan 13's haha. I love it, they should be renamed immediately to honor their proud tradition. Go Als.

Beveridge retirement

Travis Hiebert: i don't think anyone can say anything bad of sandy. an outstanding role model on and off the field, and retiring to serve the people of hamilton. all the best!

Bryan Blaine: enjoyed following your career in Steeltown...best of luck and God speed unto you! A real hero our kids can look up to and relate!

Yvonne Smits: I guess saving lives is a little more rewarding than saving touchdowns. Good luck as a firefighter!

Power Rankings Week #5

Mathieu Raymond lol... Riders lose one game and they drop from first to sixth, two ranks behind the amazing 1-3 BC Lions.

Stefan Campagna Five weeks in a row these power rankings have created havoc in the CFL-Facebook world. Keep 'em coming boys! It's my Tuesday morning laugh every week.

William Hales stupid rankings that don't make any logical sense create lots of internet traffic and get people talking - it's really got nothing to do with anything - it's the standings that count and who you play next

Jared King
I find it strange that everyone still thinks the power ranking should correlate exactly with the current standings... look at the formula people!

James Martin Based on the hurtin they put the Riders, I'd say this is right for the week. The season is long and the Riders will be back.

Players of the Week #4

Genre Slur: Bryant's two man push n' dodge on the second td was pretty wow++. Cornish woah, let the man throwdown more! Not pushing the horse too much, but Juan Simpson had a serious game.

Mathieu Raymond: John Bowman is deserving of the award. Patrick's two interceptions weren't bad and needed to be considered, but Bowman's four sacks and two forced fumbles helped his team win, while Sask lost. That may have played a part. Plus, is it THAT hard to intercept Henry Burris ? :)

Showdown: Are the Argos for real?

Carole Marianne: I think they are, A 3-1 start is not a fluke!!!! I think a new head coach has given them a new attitude.

Brad Lawryk: No longer the laughing stock of the CFL on the field. Yes, I believe they are for real and have some confidence running. Let's hope the fans in TO see this and start showing their support. They have done a great job in Toronto.

Julius Lariviere: Unfortunately, the Argos will come crashing back to earth this week... and it will be a hard landing.

Terrence Jeffers-Harris TD

lifewithoutcash:
I loved this play! i hope TJH sticks around for a few years AT LEAST!

sfloydk:
truly the next Blue Bomber STAR after Milt Steagall

cgord31:
Hell of a block at the end there. CRACK!!!!

Parker INT TD

cgord31:
Game over

WyldFire777:
And there was your turning point.

TICATS RETRO PROFILE

dan gdu:
memories of freezing at the autostade while throwing snowballs at angelo mosca!!!

HIGGINS: SAYING GOODBYE TO FRIENDS

dan gdu:
As sparky anderson said when you cut a player it's for not making the cut in baseball not for not making the cut in life!!!

SANDY BEVERIDGE RETIREMENT

the fat man sings:
i'm a die hard rider fan, but it is still a sad day for the cfl when a class act like sandy retires. he's a model of what every player should strive to be on and off the field. the fact that he's leaving football to serve the community speaks volumes to this. every team would be so lucky to have a man with the integrity, character and class as sandy beveridge. all the best in the future to you and yours. thanks for eight great years!

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Rider Prider:
Romby had a good week but he still racked up the drop's. I might have went with Jyles on this one.

Devlin Baldwin:
That sure was a good trade the Bombers made last year. Franklin and Bryant for, who was it now? Oh ya, NOBODY!

riderfan steve:
So I guess 2 INT doesn't count for anything, I mean cmmon? not even a runner up for James Patrick?

Reply from - AIRV49:
Steve, i know you're a fan but c'mon, it's not like Patrick robbed Burris or did use some breaking speed to jump on those passes... it was more like bad patterns (or bad reads by Burris)and Patrick staying in his zone, "waiting" for the ball... good focus, good discipline (not always easy to sit in your zone when nothing seems to be happening)but nothing outstanding though.

POWER RANKINGS

Boosh63:
Sometimes a team is better (or worse) than the wins/losses number indicates. It's as simple as that. The Power Rankings here and on TSN make for good watercooler talk and are not intended to be used as gospel. I'm just sayin'...

cfl/riders:
I disagree with both tsn and cfl power rankins this week the riders are an average team judging by their last 3 games. If they can figure out how to put points on the board in the first 3 quarters rather than just the 4th quarter then they wouldnt have to rely on come from behind wins all the time. their come from behind luck ran out against calgary. Riders should be in 4th at best in my opinion.

RixelStudios:
Saskatchewan drops five places off one loss and Hamilton takes last place when Edmonton has done nothing but give games up?? I'm glad you're willing to try something new with rankings, no matter how contentious, but wow. Just wow.

Kk:
I sure like seeing the Bombers up in 2nd. But Hamilton dead last is wrong. That spot is reserved for one team and one team only. 0 and 4 Edmonton.
