TORONTO -- Whether it's with immense speed, brute force or a few jukes around a defender, the surprise that comes with seeing a player break through the line for a massive gain is unlike any other.
Taking centre stage on the list are the bruising Jerome Messam, the speedy Marcus Thigpen and the veteran know-how of Winnipeg's Fred Reid.
However, runs are not restricted to running backs alone. Just ask quarterbacks Travis Lulay and Buck Pierce who both make cameos in CFL.ca's Top 10 Running Plays of 2011.

Great plays - all of them, especially if we ignore the (ahem) missed penalty calls. The CFL is the league of excitement.
It's interesting to note that neither of the top 2 rushers in the league(Whitaker and Boyd, both with outstanding 6.1 yd average per carry) made the grade for the video. Flash and dash gets noticed, but consistent excellence gets the real job done in the long run.

Great to see runs by 3 Ticats including speedster Terry Grant whose season was way to short! He will be back. Good clips, all of them!
