“This is an opportunity to snap up great seats at affordable prices for some of our very best match-ups, from the season openers on Canada Day July 1st to the traditional rivalries of Labour Day Weekend to a full slate of Retro Games celebrating the CFL of the 1960s,” said Commissioner Mark Cohon.
“And fans who buy this week get an added bonus: a chance to win great prizes, including a trip for two to the 97th Grey Cup game in Calgary this November.”
Fans can get more information at CFL.ca. As of 10:00am* local time today – Monday, June 1st – fans can buy tickets from their local clubs, through CFL.ca, or by calling 1-866-993-4CFL or 1-888-LCF-MATCH.
Adult tickets for most CFL games can be purchased for as little as $14.75 - $33.00, depending on the market.
Everyone who completes a Single Game Ticket purchase order between June 1 and June 8th will have the chance to win a prize from long list that includes:
• A trip for two to the Grey Cup.
• Unique CFL fan experiences
• Retro Fan Packages featuring merchandise celebrating each team’s 1960’s style.
• Current team merchandise prize packs.
• Hundreds of Tim Horton’s gift cards.
CFL training camps officially open June 7th. There are pre-season games scheduled for June 17th in Toronto, and June 23rd.
The regular season kicks off on Canada Day, July 1st, when the Hamilton Tiger-Cats host the Toronto Argonauts at 7:00 p.m. local time and the Calgary Stampeders host the Montreal Alouettes in a rematch of the 2008 Grey Cup at 8:00 p.m. local time (10 p.m. ET). All CFL games are broadcast on TSN.
Some of the other games that promise to be especially hot tickets this year include:
• CFL Retro Games, celebrating the 1960's from July 16 to September 11, including Winnipeg at Hamilton on July 18, Calgary at Edmonton September 11, and Hamilton at Toronto September 11.
• Labour Day Weekend September 4 to 7 including the Alouettes at the B.C. Lions, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the Toronto Argonauts at Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Edmonton Eskimos at Calgary Stampeders.
• The Hall of Fame game, in Winnipeg for the first time, on Saturday September 26th, featuring the Toronto Argonauts and Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
• Thanksgiving Weekend October 9-12 including B.C. at Edmonton, Toronto at Saskatchewan, Calgary at Montreal and B.C. at Winnipeg.
Today’s Single Game Ticket Launch features tickets to all pre-season and regular season games for all teams with the exception of the Calgary Stampeders.
Due to record high season-ticket sales in Calgary, home of the 2008 Grey Cup Champion Stampeders and site of the 2009 Grey Cup, the Stamps have opted to release on June 1st only tickets to their June 17 pre-season game against B.C. and their July 1 home opener against Montreal.
“Our league strives to deliver real value for families, by being affordable, accessible and, most of all, authentic, an important part of the fabric of this nation for a century,” Cohon said.
“And like the millions of CFL fans from across the country, we can’t wait for the 2009 season to get started.”
*Single Game Tickets for the Montreal Alouettes go on-sale on Monday at Noon ET.
