HOT TOPICS OF THE WEEK

In last week's edition of the Online Water Cooler, we took reactions from Anthony Calvillo's 40th birthday. Well, one of the greatest quarterbacks the league has ever seen showed age isn't an obstacle quite yet, as he turned in another 300-yard performance in a win against the Ticats, lifting the Als to top spot in the East Division.

This Saturday, with the Riders and Stamps set to kickoff at Mosaic Stadium, a new hot topic emerged as we learned Paul LaPolice had been dismissed by the Bombers. Fans quickly took to social media to voice their thoughts on the move. At one point during the weekend, all of #Bombers, Joe Mack, Tim Burke, and Paul LaPolice were trending on Twitter.

One thing we learned quickly was that LaPolice was a fan favourite in just about every CFL city, and there are a lot of fans who would love to have him joining their team.

The Bombers play the first end of a home and home with the Riders on Sunday, as part of Scotiabank Labour Day Weekend. Making his debut in that game will be newly-hired Tim Burke, who previously served as the team's defensive coordinator.

Dave McLean Player of the game...Cobourne. Good to see Andre Proulx back too. If Hamilton had better defence against the run they'd have won. Montreal saw this early and kept running the ball up the middle. Calgary had the same problem last week.
