MONTREAL - Centre Bryan Chiu will be back for a 13th season with the Montreal Alouettes.

The CFL club announced Thursday that the Vancouver native has signed for next season. This year, Chiu was named to the league all-star team for a seventh time. He was the CFL's outstanding lineman in 2002.

"I am thrilled to be able to continue my career with the team that believed in me in 1997," the career Alouette said in a statement. "Last year was a very special year for me."

In 2008, Montreal's offensive line allowed only 22 sacks after having given up 68 the previous year. The club also scored a team record 610 points.

After inking safety Etienne Boulay to a three-year contract on Wednesday, the Alouettes have 15 potential free agents left.

They include quarterback and 2008 outstanding player award winner Anthony Calvillo, slotback Ben Cahoon, defensive backs Mark Estelle and Davis Sanchez, rush end Anwar Stewart and this year's outstanding lineman Scott Flory.
