On behalf of our Board of Governors, and our teams across the country, I want to do more than welcome you to the 2009 CFL Season.

I want to thank you for making it possible.

You, our fans, buy our tickets, wear our colours, support our partners, and watch the CFL on TSN. What’s more, you honour our traditions, fuel our rivalries, and pass on the fun of CFL football to your children, and grandchildren.

When we say This is Our League, it’s more than a catch phrase; it’s an attempt to capture what is true and unique and wonderful about the CFL, the notion that it really belongs to all of us who love it and support it, and that we each belong to it, in equal measure, ticket holder and governor and Commissioner alike.

You’ve rallied to our league when it was riding high, and when it was just getting by, in good economic times and times like these, when many communities and Canadians face real challenges.

As we travel towards the 97th Grey Cup in Calgary, we at the CFL will keep you at the centre of everything we do, as we deliver new and exciting initiatives, including our revamped CFL.ca and new digital network of team sites, featuring content you can’t get anywhere else, CFL Retro’s Celebration of the Sixties, and continuing progress on our return to Ottawa, on top of other ideas designed to deepen the bond between our fans and our game..

We know that, as the season takes shape, the spotlight will focus on thrilling games, great players, and emerging teams, as it should.

But I want you to know that we know this is really about you, because we couldn’t do any of this without you… you really are the heart and soul of the CFL… and, in that sense, this truly is our league and our season, to share.

Thanks again. Enjoy 2009. It’s going to be great.

Mark
