TORONTO -- The Toronto Argonauts have released defensive tackle Armond Armstead, the team announced Friday afternoon.

Armstead, 22, leaves Toronto following just one season wearing Double Blue.

Throughout the 2012 season, the USC product appeared in 18 games for the Argonauts, registering 43 tackles, two special teams tackles and a team-best six sacks.

A native of Sacramento, CA, Armstead was also named an East Division and CFL All-Star in what was his rookie campaign.

not really, he only played in canada as he was not eligible in nfl last year because of medical scare (heart attack) He will most likely sign with the Seahawks as Pete Carroll coached him at usc and is really high on him. Could be the next Cam Wake. Congrats to Armond,really enjoyed watching you play from the first pre-season game you stood out!!!

@argofan4life31 - My first thought was that he might be getting a look from an NFL team, but then I figured that his CFL contract would be for a standard 3 years. Most teams are not willing to release a good player after only one year unless he maybe had some kind of understanding or provision in his contract.
