MONCTON, NB -- Today's one-day pre-sale of tickets for Scotiabank Touchdown Atlantic has been a big success, and more than 13,000 tickets have been sold for the September 26th game here between the Toronto Argonauts and Edmonton Eskimos, the Canadian Football League announced.
"The response has been tremendous, with fans across Atlantic Canada rallying to our league and our game," Commissioner Mark Cohon said late today.
"And there are still good seats available for when the general public sale opens tomorrow. When you wrap 20,000 seats around the game of Canadian football, with our big field and exciting players, every seat is a good seat in what is still an intimate venue."
Today's pre-sale was available to fans who had registered in advance at CFL.ca/TouchdownAtlantic.
As of 10 a.m. tomorrow, the general public can buy tickets at CFL.ca/TouchdownAtlantic, the Moncton Coliseum Box Office, or by dialing 1-888-720-5600.
Group sales for nine or more tickets are available by visiting the Moncton Coliseum Box Office or dialing 1-888-720-5600.
Also starting tomorrow at 10:00am AT, fans interested in purchasing a ticket as part of a bus trip from Charlottetown, Halifax, Fredericton or Saint John should contact Sports and Entertainment Atlantic by calling 1-902-444-3773, emailing cfl@seatlantic.ca or visiting www.seatlantic.ca.
Ticket prices range from $29 to $79 (all prices include 13 per cent HST and are subject to service fees).
A capacity crowd of more than 20,000 fans is expected when the Argos and Eskimos clash at 1:00 pm AT at the new Stade Moncton Stadium on the campus of the Universite de Moncton.
Plans are underway to ensure the game is the crowning event of a weekend long festival of Atlantic Canadian entertainment, parties, food and football, that will include high school and university football games.
"The fans here in Moncton and across the region have greeted Scotiabank Touchdown Atlantic with a great deal of excitement and today is further proof of that," Cohon said.
"CFL fans across the country are just as excited that our league is reaching out to Atlantic Canada, by celebrating our game and our fans here by bringing them together."
