Fantuz and Simpson both placed on 9-game IR

REGINA -- Darian Durant will have some company on the sidelines this week.
Today, the Saskatchewan Roughriders placed slotback Andy Fantuz and linebacker Barrin Simpson on the nine-game injured list, meaning that both will not see the field again until the 2012 season.
Fantuz sees an eventful season come to a close. The 2010 Most Outstanding Canadian returned to the Riders after a brief stint in the NFL with the Chicago Bears.
His arrival back in Regina brought forth a strong set of games for the Riders, however, he suffered a high ankle sprain that ultimately led to the decision to place him on the IR.
He registered 13 receptions for 175 yards in four games.
Simpson meanwhile, had a solid season with the 2-7 Riders, picking up 67 tackles and five sacks.
The Roughriders will play their final home game of the 2011 season against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at 3 pm ET on TSN.
