TORONTO -- Maybe one of the most exciting Argos to not (yet) have a great nickname, Dominique Dorsey has electrified fans over the past two seasons. The 2008 CFL Most Outstanding Special Teams Player and CFL All-Star says little in the locker room and instead let’s his play on the field do the talking.
Dorsey spends his off-season in California where he trains and spends time with his fiancé. The UNLV grad, who once held the California state high school rushing title, already holds Argos records for kickoff returns & punt returns and is tied for the world’s longest missed field goal return. Not bad for a guy who two off-seasons ago spent his winter packing trucks for a major international priority mail company.
At 5-feet, 7-inches tall and just 173 pounds, he’s the smallest player on the team and can, at times be quiet as a mouse. But he always comes up with big plays and offers insightful quotes. That’s why argonauts.ca asked him to look introspectively and make his First Response.
The bolded words or prompts below were supplied, the rest is all Dom.
I’m often asked Has anyone ever told you that you look like P. Diddy? I don't think so however.
Football I started off playing this game as an offensive lineman at age seven. It has been, and it will always be, a big part of my life.
Being healthy is Truly a blessing. It is very important that we lift weights and take care of our bodies in the off-season so we can prevent injuries from occurring during season.
I love Who I am. If you do not have love for yourself then there is no way you can love others.
I wear My heart on my sleeve when I am on the field.
Sometimes I ask myself If I could start my life all over again, what would I do differently?
Confidence Is built from your character.
Fans Are equally as much a part of the games as the players. The energy that we feed off of them is indescribable.
When I was in grade school I was very athletic. I played football, basketball, baseball, soccer and ran track.
Height Is OVERRATED!
I get annoyed With losing. The word LOSE just bugs me.
I learned from Watching and studying the greats who played this game before me so I could learn how to play this game. They played with so much passion back then; much respect!
Grey Cup The grand prize. This is why we fight. Something no one can take away from you.
The world would be a better place If we had flying cars like Back to the Future II and Fifth Element. Wouldn't that be cool?!
I find strength From courage. There are times when I am so tired and feel like I don't have anything left in the tank. I have to dig deep and gather my strength.
My final thought would be Hard work pays off. And patience is a virtue.
