WINNIPEG -- Acting General Manager Kyle Walters has wasted little time getting to work in his new role, as the Bombers announced the release of three players today, including tailback Chris Garrett.
Garrett appeared in 11 games over four seasons with the Blue Bombers, rushing for 689 yards and four touchdowns over that span. He missed all of last season with an injury and was yet to suit up in a game this year.
The 26-year-old was also a key component of Winnipeg's playoff run in 2011, rushing for 216 yards and a touchdown in the Eastern Final and the 99th Grey Cup against the Lions.
Earlier today, Garrett tweeted about his release from the Bombers.
I was never given a chance.. But hey that's life right? I'll b ok— Chris Garrett (@TheChrisGarrett) August 14, 2013
The Bombers also announced that Marquis Frazier and David James have been released.
Frazier appeared in two games with the Blue Bombers after signing with the team in July, recording three tackles and one sack. James, meanwhile, James attended training camp with the team and was signed to the practice roster earlier this month.
