Spotlight: Chris Getzlaf

REGINA -- Chris Getzlaf will continue to wear Rider green for the forseeable future.

Wednesday, the Roughriders announced that the Regina native has agreed to a contract extension with the team.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Following the announcement, Getzlaf expressed his excitement throughhis Twitter account.

"Now that it is official, I am very happy to say that I will be a #Rider for at least a few more years!"

In 2011, the University of Regina product enjoyed a breakout campaign, leading all Saskatchewan receivers with 1,071 receiving yards, while finishing second in the league with 10 touchdowns.

It was the first time in his five-year career that he eclipsed the 1,000-yard receiving mark.

The 29-year old was rewarded for his efforts by being named Saskatchewan's nominee for Most Outstanding Canadian.

Getz will have another 1K season. Good hands, deceptive speed, therefore, he only needs Durant to stay healthy. Their combination will be great for the Mean Green.
