WINNIPEG -- The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced Monday morning the signing of import defensive end Jason Vega. Vega returns to Winnipeg after spending the 2013 season in the National Football League.

Vega spent the 2011 and 2012 seasons with the Blue Bombers, playing in 27 games while racking up 66 tackles, 12 sacks and one fumble recovery. He also played in one playoff game, scoring an offensive touchdown, and the 2011 Grey Cup, where he recorded two tackles and one sack.

“Jason is a character guy with great athletic ability. He is not only a great football player, but a real quality person and will be a welcomed addition to our locker room,” said General Manager Kyle Walters.

Vega was named defensive player of the week in Week 17 of 2011, and Week 11 of 2012.

The 26-year old spent part of 2013 with New England, but more so with the Dallas Cowboys, seeing action in two games, including an October victory at Philadelphia, where he recorded one tackle in a 17-3 win.

The American Colleges and Universities are football factories. Coming from Northeastern if he's not exceptional, no matter what he accomplished in the CFL, it's a NO!
