REGINA -- With the help of our expanding Saskatchewan Roughrider Facebook and Twitter followers submitting online questions, Riderville.com was able to sit down with the new Rider General Manager Brendan Taman and get his take on some fan questions.
Q: Is there any room in the Salary Cap to bring in some Free Agents on Defence?
A: There were very few CFL Free Agents that we had targeted, however our staff will be focusing recruiting on the Defensive side of the ball, from now until training camp kicks off.
Q: With the possibility of Training Camp coming to Saskatoon in 2010, is there any chance a game may be played in Saskatoon in the near future?
A: Our presence in Saskatoon has been, and will continue to be a major emphasis within the organization. The biggest challenge posed to us, in regards to playing a game, would be Facility wise.
Q: Has there been any interest in recently released Linebackers Zeke Moreno or Barrin Simpson?
A: I have talked to both of them, as I know them well. Currently, they are being evaluated and are on our "Ready" list, should we elect to pursue them further.
Q: Each year the Riders do well, there is a mass exodus of either Coaches or Players. It's not as though they're leaving from a hostile environment, what will you do to stop this from happening?
A: Most, if not all of our coaches or players have left for either a promotion, or to pursue their NFL careers. It is very difficult to stand in their way to better themselves.
Q: What trait do you look for most when scouting potential Roughriders south of the border?
A: The ability to make PLAYS!
Q: In bringing over a couple of coaches from Winnipeg, how difficult do you feel the transition will be for the returning players on Offence to adjust?
A: Doug Berry, Bob Dyce, Marcus Crandell and Head Coach Ken Miller will have everybody on the same page. I full expect the transition to be very smooth.
Q: Great move on the Prechae Rodriguez deal! How do you feel having that size at Wide Receiver can have an impact on our Offence?
A: Relating back to a previous answer. I'm not big into size, it's about making PLAYS!! (ie. Dressler)
Q: What's the biggest difference you've noticed in the Front Office, as compared to your last stint with the team?
A: The facilities are first class! Having money in the bank certainly helps, but the upgrade to the facilities is a huge difference.
