VANCOUVER -- The B.C. Lions quarterbacking situation was cleared up on Thursday afternoon. The club announced that Jackson suffered an injury to the rotator cuff in his right shoulder during the Lions 28-24 loss to Montreal on Sunday. The B.C. Lions could be without quarterback Jarious Jackson for five weeks.
"Right now, there is some damage to the rotator cuff and the doctors are not 100 per cent sure because there's still a lot of inflammation," Lions head coach and general manager Wally Buono told the TEAM 1040 radio in Vancouver.
As a result of the injury to Jackson, Buck Pierce will start for the Lions on Saturday night when the team hosts the Toronto Argonauts.
Pierce has been taking starter reps at practice this week. His last action came on Aug. 14 against the Argonauts in Toronto. He suffered a concussion in the game and was replaced by Jackson.
In seven games this season, Pierce has completed 105 of 166 passes for 1,167 yards. He has thrown nine interceptions to only six touchdown passes.
