CALGARY -- Widely regarded as a prospect with instant “starter potential”, Laurant Duvernay-Tardif saw his draft stock drop as a result of being taken by the Kansas City Chiefs in the sixth round of last weekend’s NFL Draft.

Duvernay-Tardif was taken in the third round, 19th overall by the Calgary Stampeders.

“If he ever came back to Canada he would be an instant starter at tackle,” said CIS Insider Justin Dunk.

Duvernay-Tardif skipped the 2014 Combine in favour of hosting his own pro-day in front of both CFL and NFL scouts.

He did not disappoint, registering 34 reps on the bench press, while running a 5.08 40-yard dash (though some scouts clocked him in at less than five seconds).

Even though Duvernay-Tardif will likely be south of the border when training camps open in June, he never ruled out playing in the CFL.
"I would love to play in the CFL,'' he said following his pro-day.

"I played against a lot of people that now play in the CFL. It would be great to play in that league. I'm going to play and do my best wherever I end up.''
