HAMILTON -- Hamilton Tiger-Cats Vice President of Football Operations Kent Austin today announced the team’s football operations structure.

Joining Austin in the front office will be Director of U.S. Scouting Danny McManus , Director of Canadian Scouting Drew Allemang, Director of Football Administration Shawn Burke and Eric Tillman as a consultant.

McManus has spent the previous two years as the Ticats Head U.S. Scout after serving as their Southeast Regional scout for two seasons. As a player, McManus suited up for 17 seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Edmonton Eskimos, Ticats and Calgary Stampeders.

He still owns several Ticats passing records, including career passing yards (33,841), touchdown passes (164) and pass completions (2,368). He was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2011.

Allemang has been a member of the Ticats football operation staff since 2009, primarily focusing on the development and scouting of Canadian Players. Allemang will continue to lead the team’s scouting strategy in Canada as well as the preparation for the annual CFL Draft in addition to other responsibilities in the personnel department.

Burke continues his role as Director of Football Administration after being appointed to the football operations department in 2011. Burke, a Guelph native, oversees several aspects of the football operations department including administration of the salary management system. He previously spent five years in the Ticats communications and community relations departments.

Tillman most recently served as General Manager of the Edmonton Eskimos from 2010-12. Tillman brings over two decades of experience as a football executive, including additional stints as a GM with the Saskatchewan Roughriders (2006-09), Ottawa Renegades (2002-04), Toronto Argonauts (1997, 1999) and the B.C. Lions (1993-94).

“I’m excited about working with this group. Our front office features a combination of individuals with incredible experience and bright, young minds who will contribute to the success of this team. I feel very strongly about the collective abilities of our football operations department,” said Austin.

We all make mistakes, Tillman will be back as GM somewhere. Unfortunate what happened to him in Regina on a personal level because on the football side of things he had turned things around.

Wise of Austin to keep existing staff who are familiar with the organization and can carry on more seamlessly. Tillman is a consultant ONLY, available to Austin for advice or a second opinion when needed. AND he stays in Regina! They have a previous good working relationship and one can't argue that Tillman has a wealth of experience as a GM compared to Austin!
