MONTREAL -- Former Montreal Alouettes quarterback Adrian McPherson has signed with the AFL's Tampa Bay Storm, the team announced earlier this week.
McPherson, 29, was set to become a free agent on Feb. 15, but was released by the Alouettes 10 days earlier to get a head start on free agency. The Bradenton, FL. native was the fifth best player on CFL.ca's list of Top 10 Free Agents of 2013.
In five years with the Als, McPherson has thrown 243 passes for 1,505 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. The Florida State product is also effective on the ground, as he’s registered 1,035 rushing yards and nine majors on 41 attempts.
The six-foot-three, 220-pound pivot returns for his fourth season in the AFL and first with the Storm.
He began his professional career with the Indiana Firebirds in 2004 and earned AFL Rookie of the Year honours as he completed nearly 60 per cent of his passes for 3,297 yards, 61 touchdowns and only five interceptions. He added an additional 259 yards on the ground along with 19 rushing touchdowns.
