Mississauga – One of the largest presences on the Argos has decided to remain a Boatman through the 2011 season. The Toronto Argonauts Football Club announced today that OG Taylor Robertson will return to the lineup and has inked a contract extension with the team.
The 6’6”, 317-pound UCF product grew up in Kingston, Ontario, and originally joined the Argos in 2007 in a trade with the Calgary Stampeders. Since joining the Double Blue, Robertson has started in every regular season game at Guard (54) and has been the Argos nominee at Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman for three straight seasons (2007-2009). 2010 will mark Robertson’s 8th year in the CFL and 4th with the Argos. Known for his toughness and aggressiveness, Taylor has played in 105 regular season and 3 playoff games. Off the field, Robertson is an active participant in the Argos’ Big Men, Big Hearts program with the Sick Kids Foundation.
Commented Robertson, “Our offensive line here in Toronto is a close group on and off the field. Being able to remain a part of that unit with those guys was a major factor in my decision to continue to be an Argo. The fans here in Toronto have been supportive and I look forward to continuing to interact with them after games and in the community.”
Adam Rita, GM/VP, Football Operations, stated, “We’re very fortunate to have Taylor Robertson back. He solidifies our offensive line which enables us to play with the same group as last year. This continuity allows us to get better in the front as the same guys work together. He gives us veteran leadership in that group and has been a solid player for us since he became an Argo. We look forward to seeing his continued strong play.”
