WINNIPEG -- Winnipeg Blue Bombers head coach Paul LaPolice confirmed on Sunday that Alex Brink will start Wednesday against the Argonauts in Toronto.

As for the man Brink is replacing, Buck Pierce, there is no immediate word from the club as to how long he will be out.

"He'll be out this week, we'll have better information in the next day or so for how long,'' LaPolice told the media following the team's Sunday practice.

Despite taking a huge hit where his head hit the Commonwealth Field turf in relief of Pierce, Brink said he will be ready to take on the Argonauts even after a short week.

“I’ll be ready for Wednesday’s game,” Brink said on Saturday. “I don’t have a headache, I have full memory of everything that happened, and there really are no issues. I trust the doctors and our trainers,” he added.

Friday's game was the second in three weeks where Pierce exited early with an injury.  He has thrown for 327 yards this season, completing 24 of 40 passing attempts. He's scored a touchdown and has been intercepted three times. Pierce has also rushed eight times for 41 yards.

Brink has thrown for 253 yards in 2012, completing 25 of 48 passes with two TDs and two interceptions.

He's rushed for 28 yards on six carries, scoring one touchdown.

he has proved he is not durable enough to play football and is also very inconsistent, please la police get rid of buck and let us develop our younger qbs even if it means missing the play offs this year, itl be worth it in the long run

The Bombers have for some reason been reluctant to bench Pierce. He has obviously been playing injured, which is no surprise to anyone, and has not been even a little productive. He is reluctant to run the Offense which requires him to get rid of the ball quickly. Instead holds the ball making himself a sitting duck. The Bombers D and special teams played great the first two games but in game 3 Pierce not only Brought the Offense down but the confidence of the entire team. It has taken an injury, again, for the Bombers to replace him.
It has been obvious from game 1 that the Bomber O changed and became more productive the moment Brink entered the game. He oozed confidence by taking complete control of the huddle, changing plays at the line of scrimmage and the BC D was caught totally off guard as Brink drove the field to start the second half for a TD. It was at that point that I think everyone except LaPolice saw that the change was needed.
Pierce has since gotten 2 more starts a mediocre game at best in game two and a complete disaster in game three again leaving with injury. Brink enters early down a bunch forcing the bombers to play quick catch up ball which almost got Brink killed.
Due to Pierces likability no one would say it but the Pierce era needs to come to an end.
I predict the Bombers will come out much more confident with Brink from the get go. The O Line must be soo tired of catching the blame they will block their butts off for Brink to ensure he stays.

Even in the games where Buck has played, he has been mostly mediocre. It is becoming fairly apparent that the BB's are not going to get far with Buck at the helm, healthy or not.

Not sure just what the "tough decisions" are. If Buck is injured and Brink is okay to go then he starts. If not the nod goes to Elliott. Now we know why they were signed to contract extensions in the off season! Friday night was a real QB carousel for both teams!

Crystal has had his chance - again. Overall, Brink has been solid enough to earn more reps with the first team - not just in practice or being put into the game because of an injury or under duress when the Bomber offence is struggling. If not Brink, then Elliot. Like mahzeke wrote: give (the ball) to one tough and pretty solid QB who just needs more reps to prove himself.

give the rock to brink and let him run with it! pierce has proven time after time that the knock on him - a lack of durability - is too true for any team to rely on him. always rootin' for the bombers, except for labour day and the banjo bowl, so give it to one tough and pretty solid qb that just needs more rep to prove himself!
