HAMILTON -- The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have called a press conference for Monday where it's expected that 10-year veteran Marwan Hage will be announcing his retirement.

According to Drew Edwards of the Hamilton Spectator, Hage will will retire as Tiger-Cat, despite being selected by the REDBLACKS in the 2013 Expansion Draft.

Affectionately known as "The Sultan", Hage was a two-time East Division All-Star, and was once named a league All-Star, earning the honour in 2010.

Drafted in the second round of the 2004 Draft by the Ticats, Hage was a massive contributor to the Hamilton and Montreal - his hometown - communities.

His charity "Hage's Heroes" is a program that has welcomed over thousands of underprivileged youth to Tiger-Cats home games, fed families through food drives, organized Christmas toy drives and made numerous donations to local charities since its inception in 2007.

Hage was honoured with the 2009 Tom Pate Memorial Award for his efforts in the community.

Between Hage not reporting to the RedBlacks and Glenn wanting out if the RedBlack had not picked those guys they would have 3 good non-imports vs 2 guys that don't want to be in Ottawa for 1 reason or another. I still feel them picking ANY QBs plus a established vet like Hage vs putting that money into free agents on Feb. 15th hurt them roster wise. We will soon find out won't we.

if the RedBlacks didn't throw a ton of money at a quickly declining ancient QB, they would have a better starting QB and a whole lot more cap space and wouldn't have made themselves look like fools to the entire Free Agent class either. They got "name" players like Jovon Johnson and Anton McKenzie because they had nowhere else to go, not because they wanted to play for a team that lied to one veteran about his place already...

He wasn't drafted in 2014 by the Ticats.

Not surprised that Hage wants to retire as a Ticat instead of playing out the last year or two of his contract as a REDBLACK. Seems that he took some tine to come to this decision and feels that it is best for him and for his family.
