REGINA -- The Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club announced today they have signed non-import offensive lineman Marc Parenteau and non-import fullback Chris Szarka to new contracts. Financial details of the signings were not released.
Parenteau is heading into his fourth season with the Riders and sixth in the CFL. The Boston College grad has played a total of 62 regular season CFL games including starting in all 18 at right guard for the Green and White in 2009.
The 29-year old originally signed with the Riders as a free agent in the 2007 off-season after spending the previous season with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He was drafted by Ottawa in the fifth round (36th overall) in the 2003 CFL College Draft.
Szarka is heading into his 14th season with the Green and White after originally being selected by the team in the second round (13th overall) in the 1997 CFL College Draft. In 206 regular season games, Szarka has tallied 429 carries for 1,702 yards and 32 touchdowns, and 97 receptions for 1,295 yards and five touchdowns.
In the 2009 season, the Eastern Illinois product had 15 carries for 78 yards and six touchdowns and three receptions for 20 yards in 18 games as the starting fullback.
