REGINA -- The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed 2007 Heisman Trophy finalist Colt Brennan on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old quarterback was up for the top award in U.S. college football during his senior season at Hawaii.

The six-foot-three 207-pound Brennan broke a number of NCAA Division I records, including most touchdowns in a single season with 58.

He also holds the NCAA record for highest pass completion percentage (70.4 per cent).

Brennan was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL draft.

He was placed on the injured reserve due to a hamstring and hip injury the following season and was traded to the Baltimore Ravens in 2010 before being released.

The Roughriders also signed quarterback Drew Willy on Tuesday. The six-foot-three 215-pound University of Buffalo product has spent time with the Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts, New York Jets and San Diego Chargers.

The 25-year-old Willy also played one season with the UFL's Las Vegas Locomotives.
