CALGARY -- Another day, another injury announcement for the Calgary Stampeders.
Friday, Stampeders Head Coach and GM John Hufnagel announced that veteran middle linebacker Juwan Simpson is doubtful for Sunday's Western Final vs. the BC Lions.
Simpson has been seen walking around Stampeders practice in a walking boot, physically unable to participate in drills
The announcement comes just a day after Hufnagel revealed that QB Drew Tate will miss the remainder of the season with fractured forearm.
Should Simpson not be given the green light in time for Sunday, look for 24-year-old rookie Deron Mayo to take his spot in the lineup.
Mayo has appeared in 14 games this season for the Stamps, registering nine tackles, one sack and 15 special teams takedowns.
It's another unfortunate blow to the Stampeders, as Simpson has been in fine form all through the 2012 campaign. The West Division All-Star racked up a career-high 82 tackles, two sacks and three fumble recoveries this season.
Simpson says the injury occured when the Stamps last faced the Lions in Week 18, and it has been causing him some discomfort ever since.
More to come...
