CALGARY -- Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel announced Thursday the signing of three players including non-import offensive lineman Pierre Lavertu, the No. 1 overall selection at the 2014 CFL Draft.

Also signed were non-import defensive back Adam Thibault, a third-round selection (24th overall) in the 2014 draft, and import defensive lineman Kayvon Sherrill. As per team policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Lavertu was a four-time Quebec conference all-star and three-time CIS all-Canadian at the Universite Laval. He was a member of the Rouge et Or’s Vanier Cup-winning squads in 2010, 2012 and 2013.

Thibault is also a Laval product. After making the conversion from receiver to defensive back in 2013, he recorded 21 tackles, one sack and two forced fumbles as he helped the Rouge et Or to a Vanier Cup title. Thibault recorded the fastest 40-yard time at the 2014 CFL draft combine.

Sherrill is a Florida Atlantic University product who earlier this month attended mini-camp with the National Football League’s Jacksonville Jaguars.
