CALGARY -- Adrian McPherson's time with the Calgary Stampeders was a brief one.

Friday, the Stamps placed the import QB on the retired list. McPherson, who signed with the Stamps on Jan. 7, is still dealing with an injury suffered while playing in the Arena Football League in 2013 and would have been unable to participate in the Stamps’ training camp.

“The football team and Adrian had hoped the hand injury would have been resolved by the time training camp started and we’re disappointed that Adrian’s current health situation will not allow him to compete for a roster spot at this time,” said Hufnagel.

“We’ll be staying in touch with him as he continues to get the injury treated and may consider bringing him up at a later date.”

Meanwhile, Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce the signing of import quarterbacks Brian Hudson and Bryant Moniz.

As per team policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Hudson played the 2013 season at Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C., and threw for 2,184 yards while leading the Fighting Camels with 884 rushing yards. He was successful on 183 of 303 passes for a 60.4-per cent completion rate and had 15 touchdown passes to go with eight rushing scores.

He played three seasons at Liberty before transferring to Campbell. In 2011, Hudson played 11 games for the Flames — including two starts — and threw for 498 and four touchdowns. He added 70 rushing yards and one major.

Moniz played three seasons (2009-11) at the University of Hawaii and threw for 10,169 yards and 75 touchdowns in 34 games. He also rushed for 512 yards and 13 touchdowns. Moniz established a number of school records including 560 passing yards in one game (Nov. 20, 2010, against San Jose State) and seven passing touchdowns in one half (Sept. 24, 2011, against UC Davis).
