Calgary Stampeder Alumni Association Pledges $75,000.00 in support of the Greater Calgary Amateur Football Association
CALGARY (CFL.ca wire) -- J.T. Hay, president of the Calgary Stampeder Alumni Association, and Bill Goods, chairman of the Calgary Stampeder Alumni Charitable Foundation announced on Tuesday financial support towards the Greater Calgary Amateur Football Association.
The Greater Calgary Amateur Football Association consists of representatives from all aspects of youth, amateur, and professional football in the City of Calgary and area. Organizers have brought together individuals from Calgary Atom, Pee Wee, Bantam, and Midget football associations, along with the Calgary Senior High School Athletic Association, Calgary Touch and Flag Football, the Calgary Junior Colts, the University of Calgary Dinosaurs, and the Calgary Stampeder Football Club.
The Greater Calgary Amateur Football Association’s first goal is to install badly needed multi purpose artificial turf on three fields at Shouldice Athletic Park, as well as the development of a football training center on the site.
In support of the project, Hay and Goods stated, “As athletes who have benefited and developed through the minor football system, we feel it is incumbent on us to take a leadership role and throw our full support behind this project. Calgary Minor Football deserves a safe, state of the art, modern facility, where usage is not determined by the elements. We are pleased to provide not only vocal support, but also financial support to this essential project.”
