Three more years: Als extend rush end Bowman | | Official Site of the Canadian Football League Staff

MONTREAL -- The Alouettes announced on Friday the signing of veteran import defensive end John Bowman to a new three-year deal with the team.

Bowman finished tied for the Alouettes team lead alongside teammate Shea Emry last season with seven sacks in only 15 games, bringing his career total to 60 - good for second on Montreal's list of all-time sack leaders. The 30-year-old also recorded a career-best 37 defensive tackles in 2012 and helped secure a crucial victory for Montreal when he sacked Saskatchewan quarterback Darian Durant on the final play of the game in Week 16.

"John is and has been one of our hardest working players. He is as tough as they come and plays the game with passion. We look forward to his growing leadership with the team for the future," explained Alouettes General Manager Jim Popp.

Since first signing with Montreal in 2006, the two-time Grey Cup champion and three-time East Division All-Star has recorded over 30 defensive tackles in five consecutive seasons, starting from 2008.

That is only a fan's cliche you heard somewhere. Coaches, players and ex-players know injuries are a reality. That would leave you out, I assume. Check the Disabled List next time before you dis players for lack of effort.

injuries in football are the reality of the sport BUT using injuries as the excuse for lack of effort on the field is just your cliche that you heard somewhere!! "that would leave you out, I assume" you do remember what they say about people who assume!! nobody calls out a player on the IR BUT once cleared by the medical staff and the jersey is put on and the player walks on the field he become free game!!

A.R., YOU would know about this lack of "effort" how? Not from CJAD? Als D played hard and with a lot of effort last year. Trestman said exactly that several times. John Bowman is real good. He's also 31 years old. Another top quality Als Defender hobbled by . . . (wait for it ). . . INJURIES LAST YEAR.

"you would know about his lack of'"effort"'how?" missed the point again which is no surprise!! whine about injuries from last season isn't the reason the defence for the 2nd year in a row was TERRIBLE it was because most of the talent wasn't good enough along with the DC and position coaches!!

Calling players out for lack of effort, something you have zero knowledge of, doesn't even rate. Trestman said that was his MOST determined and committed team, 2012. I'll take his word over yours any day everyday.
