HAMILTON, Ont -- The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that the team has signed import linebacker Ike Brown to a new contract through the 2014 season.  Brown was slated to become a free agent at noon.

Brown, a 5-11, 223-pound native of Saginaw, Michigan, joined the Ticats in May of 2009 after a four-year collegiate career at Central Michigan and a stint with the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons.

He played in 12 games during the 2009 and 2010 seasons with the Ticats, making 12 special teams tackles, three defensive tackles and a quarterback sack, before suffering a season-ending injury in training camp last year.

“Ike is an outstanding special teams player who brings versatility to our defence. We’re looking forward to seeing Ike healthy and competing at a high level this season,” said vice president of football operations Bob O’Billovich.
