HAMILTON -- The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that import linebacker Renauld Williams has been released.

“We’d like to thank Rey for his contributions to the Tiger-Cats organization during his two years in Hamilton.  Rey was a true professional and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours,” said Vice President of Football Operations, General Manager and Head Coach Kent Austin.

Williams registered 185 defensive tackles, eight quarterback sacks and two interceptions in two seasons after signing as a free agent on February 17, 2011.

Can't comment on the Coach Of The Year Award ARTICLE.
Between the BIG 3 BC Lions HC Mike Benevides, Calgary Stampeders HC John Hufnagel & Toronto Argonauts HC Scott Milanovich, I'm betting Milanovich.

In 2011 the ARGOS go 6 - 12 (miss playoffs), in 2012 they improve to 9 - 9 and win the Grey Cup. Milanovich would need to send a big Thank You to Tillman for sending Ricky Ray to TOR.

bit of a surprise, I found him to be a very affable person and consistent player. I think kent is using this year playing away from hamilton as a build year. 2014 he'll be arriving back in the city with a new, younger and stronger team.

sounds good BUT what are fans 2 expect this season?

I don't think guelph even likes hamilton, in fact most municipalities around here have no love for hamtown. fans there will be glad to see the other teams play live, hamfans, well, gonna be a tough year I think, but the diehards that drive out there are diehards regardless.

Absolutely WRONG is saying that Guelph doesn't like Hamilton. They may have some issues with the city (even Hamiltonians do!) but they love the Ticats are are thrilled to have them playing in their backyard for a season! ar - Fans can expect a better defense and record!

Hard to figure the Ti-Cats. Good tackler, fast and tough. Isn't this another cap issue? One year you're an All-Star, the next - you're history. He could hook on elsewhere. Good LBs on our wide field are at a premium.

surprising move or not?
February 27, 2013 - 5:31pm
A bit of a surprise, yes considering he was one of the few D players who started all 18 games and was generally pretty solid. However, with new, younger players coming in, some of them NIs, and given his age and probable salary, it isn't entirely unexpected.

Might add to the comment that the Ticats appear to be moving towards a ratio change on defense - something that caused them a few headaches last season when several players were injured for a number of games.
