EDMONTON – Offensive line coach Tim Prinsen is leaving the Edmonton Eskimos to return to the coaching staff at the University of Alberta, the club announced today.

Due to the time commitment involved with coaching at the professional level, Prinsen’s return to the Golden Bears will allow him to spend more time with his family.

“I’d like to thank Ed Hervey, Kavis Reed and the Edmonton Eskimos for giving me the opportunity to coach at the professional level for the team I grew up watching and the team I ended my playing career with,” says Prinsen. “I wish the Eskimos all the best in the future.”

Prinsen was a guest coach at Eskimo training camp in 2010 and joined the staff permanently midway through the 2010 season.

The Edmonton native began his coaching career with the University of Alberta as the offensive line coach from 2006-2009.  While there he tutored current Eskimos Simeon Rottier, Gord Hinse and Dale Stevenson.

Hamilton’s first pick (fourth overall) in the 1997 CFL Draft, Prinsen played eight years as a CFL lineman, including five as the starting centre with the Eskimos. He won two Grey Cups in four appearances as a player - 2003 with Edmonton and 1999 with Hamilton.

I really don't follow you. The CEO rightfully cut out the cancer, ie: ex-GM and then hired the right man. The Ray trade was made at a critical time when the current CEO was just taking over so he didn't object. Reed & Hervey did voice their objections at the time but were not listened to by Tillman. There is currently a setback due to the QB situation but morale is improving. The Esks are on their way back.

Why do you think that "als rule"? The Esks have done much to lift moral and re-align their focus with the hiring of Ed Hervey. Their coaching is sound and many of the free agents will be resigned. They may not make it into the cup right away due to Tillman's shenanigans but should improve and compete.
