TORONTO -- Joe West, Dexter McCoil, Tim Brown and Eddie Steele were named the Canadian Football League Players of the Week for Week 9 of the 2014 Canadian Football League season.

The four players were chosen by a panel of judges including: former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN, and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.

Calgary Stampeders wide receiver Joe West was named the Offensive Player of the Week for Week 9. West caught four passes for a season-high 129 yards in Calgary’s road victory over Ottawa, 32-7.

West, a three-year CFL veteran and a product of the University of Texas at El Paso, caught two passes for over 50 yards in the game: a 58-yard grab in the third quarter and 51-yard catch in the fourth.

The native of Melbourne, Florida has 11 receptions on the year totalling 268 yards (24.4 yard per reception), good for third on the Stampeders roster.

This is West’s first Player of the Week honour in his career.

Edmonton Eskimos linebacker Dexter McCoil was named the Defensive Player of the Week for Week 9. McCoil scored a pair of touchdowns, intercepted two passes and added five tackles in the Edmonton’s 41-27 win over the visiting Argonauts.

Teammate Odell Willis intercepted a pass, then lateraled the ball to McCoil who returned it the rest of the way for his first career touchdown.

On his second touchdown, the University of Tulsa product intercepted his second pass of the contest and returned it 19 yards late in the fourth quarter to ice the game for the Eskimos.

The 6'4" 222 pound Metairie, Louisiana native is currently second in the league with four interceptions and second on the Eskimos with 25 tackles on the season.

This is McCoil’s first season in the CFL and this is his first career Player of the Week honour.

BC Lions kick and punt returner Tim Brown was named the Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 9. Brown, who earned the same honour in Week 8, collected 277 combined return yards, including a 75-yard punt return for a touchdown in the Lions’ 20-16 loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

In the first quarter, Brown returned a Chris Milo punt for a career-long 75 yards to notch his first return touchdown of the season.

The former Temple Owl returned seven punts for 138 yards (averaging 19.7 yards) and four kickoffs for 139 yards (averaging 34.8 yards).

The 5'8" 190 pound native of Stockton, California leads the league in punt return yards with 353.

This is the fifth time in Brown's career that he has been named Special Teams Player of the Week.

Edmonton Eskimos defensive tackle Eddie Steele was named the Canadian Player of the Week for Week 9. Steele recorded a sack, a pass knockdown, a special teams tackle and six total tackles in the Eskimos’ 41-27 home win over Toronto.

Steele, a product of the University of Manitoba, is having a career-year in his fourth season in the CFL. Through Edmonton’s first eight games, Steele has already tied his career-best in sacks with three and has recorded 23 tackles. He sits five shy of his career-high set during the 2011 campaign.

At his current pace, the Winnipeg, Manitoba native will not only shatter his single season-high of 28 tackles, but he will also eclipse the 47 he collected in his first three years combined.

This is Steele’s first Canadian Player of the Week award in his career.

Defensive player of the week....I hope Ian Wild was a strong consideration with 14 tackles (new Bomber record). He has played the whole year penalty free as well....tied for 3rd in the league in tackles....Monster game for Wild helping to stop a strong running game from Brandon Whitaker
