WINNIPEG -- The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are pleased to announce Jim Bell has been named the 38th President in franchise history.

“Jim brings tremendous administration skills to the Blue Bombers and we’re excited about having him take control of the club’s business operations,” said Gene Dunn, Past Chairman of the Board. “He understands this club is part of the fabric of this community, being a lifelong Winnipegger, and we feel he is the right fit for this position.”

Most recently, Bell has served as the Interim President since December 17, 2009. Bell will oversee and operate all of the Bombers’ business operations, while Vice-President and General Manager Joe Mack will continue to handle all aspects of football operations.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for me to serve the Winnipeg Football Club in this capacity,” said Bell. “I am born and bred in this city and province and understand the passion of our fans.  I have immeasurable respect for this organization and for what it means to our community and with that I accept this position with the utmost humility. I am certainly excited and humbled to lead this organization."

Bell has spent the past eight seasons with the Winnipeg Football Club, joining the organization in April of 2002 in the role of Director of Finance. He was promoted to Vice President of Finance and Administration in 2006. Bell worked closely with the former President and CEO in rebuilding the franchise financially, while also being a driving force in efforts to control expenses and increase revenues. Bell’s responsibilities have included all areas of accounting and finance as well as overseeing special projects, including the 2006 Grey Cup.

A lifelong Winnipegger, Bell majored in Commerce at the University of Manitoba. Jim and his wife Helen have three children — Trevor, Cory and Acksanna.
