Gerry James was not only the youngest player to ever play in the CFL at age 17, but he was one of the toughest athletes of his time. James was the very first recipient of the CFL Most Outstanding Canadian Award in 1954 and won the award a second time in 1957. Jacobs led the league in scoring in 1957.
