McCord, Sullivan re-sign with Big Blue

Winnipeg (CFL.ca)– The Winnipeg Blue Bombers locked-up another pair of CFL veterans with today’s re-signing of import receiver Quentin McCord and non-import safety John Sullivan.

As per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

McCord (5-10, 178, Kentucky ’00, DOB: June 26, 1978 in LaGrange, Ga.) made his CFL debut with the Blue Bombers last season. He appeared in seven regular season games and finished the season with 17 receptions for 248 yards. McCord had a season-high five catches on June 23 versus the Toronto Argonauts and a season-high 91 receiving yards on Sept. 3 versus the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

McCord spent time with the Atlanta Falcons, Oakland Raiders and Detroit Lions before joining the Blue Bombers.

Sullivan (6-1, 206, Waterloo ’03, DOB: July 28, 1981 in Waterloo, Ont.) is entering his third season with the Blue & Gold. A sixth round (51st overall) pick of the Bombers in the 2004 CFL Canadian Draft, Sullivan appeared in 10 games this past season with the football club. He was a standout on special teams, finishing tied for seventh on the Bombers with eight special teams tackles. That followed a 2005 rookie season in which Sullivan dressed for seven regular season games and registered two defensive tackles and six special teams tackles.

“Quentin McCord and John Sullivan were steady performers when given an opportunity to contribute last season,” Bombers G.M. Brendan Taman said. “We expect them to come into training camp ready to contribute again this season.”
