A.C., Newcomers headline players of the week

Anthony Calvillo, Jermaine McElveen, Paul McCallum, and Stu Foord were named the CFL’s top players for week #13, the Canadian Football League announced today.
Players of the Week are selected for on-field excellence by members of the Canadian football broadcasters.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

QB – Anthony Calvillo – Montreal Alouettes

Highlights / Key Stats:

Anthony Calvillo completed 31 of 38 passes for a CFL high 414 yards and two touchdowns. Calvillo spread the ball around, completing passes to seven different receivers, but focused on his three primary targets, Ben Cahoon, Kerry Watkins and Jamel Richardson who had 25 catches between the three of them.

Anthony Calvillo leads the league with a 67.7% completion percentage, 3,971 yards and 28 touchdowns with only eight interceptions this season. His passer efficiency rating of 106.7 also leads the league.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

DE – Jermaine McElveen – Montreal Alouettes

Highlights / Key Stats:

The Montreal Alouettes made pressuring Ricky Ray and the Edmonton Eskimos a priority and Jermaine McElveen delivered. McElveen sacked Ray three times, forced two fumbles and recovered a fumble in the Alouettes big home victory.

McElveen was appearing in only his second game of his CFL career in Week #13. On the season he has recorded three tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles and a recovered fumble.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

K/P – Paul McCallum – B.C. Lions
B.C. Lions 27 @ Saskatchewan Roughriders 21
Highlights / Key Stats:

Paul McCallum was a perfect 6 for 6 kicking field goals on Sunday, accounting for 19 points in the B.C. Lions road victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders. McCallum kicked field goals of 16,17,25,28,35 and 50 yards in the game. He also punted eight times with a 34.25 net yard average.

Paul McCallum has converted 30 of 35 field goal attempts on the season for an 85.7% completion rate with a long of 50 yards. McCallum has a 43.5 yard gross punting average and a 33.3 yard net average.

CANADIAN PLAYER OF THE WEEK

RB – Stu Foord – Saskatchewan Roughriders
B.C. Lions 27 @ Saskatchewan Roughriders 21
Highlights / Key Stats:

Stu Foord rushed eight times for 37 yards and a touchdown and added a 55-yard touchdown reception in relief of the injured Wes Cates. Foord scored on his first ever CFL carry, an 18-yard rush near the beginning of the second quarter. He added the long touchdown reception early in the third.
