The Tiger-Cats acquired third-year Canadian receiver Adam Nicolson in a trade with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on February 24. Ticats.ca sat down with the eighth overall selection in the 2007 CFL Canadian Draft to learn a little more about him…
Q:Do you have any pre-game rituals that you follow?
Adam: I’ve read a few sports psychology books over the years and I find it helps to do the same thing over and over again. I just do a lot of visualization and maybe a dynamic warm-up prior to the team’s warm-up.
Q: What is your favourite personal football memory?
Adam: When I scored against B.C. I had been in B.C. and but it didn’t work out and I got a chance in Saskatchewan. A few weeks later we played the Lions and I caught a touchdown.
Q: Who is an athlete you admired growing up?
Adam: (Former B.C. Lion/current Saskatchewan Roughrider) Jason Clermont is someone I looked up to. He’s kind of your gritty, Canadian, good homegrown talent.
Q: What surprised you the most when you got to the CFL?
Adam: It’s so much faster. You have to train your mind to be a little bit quicker.
Q: If you weren’t playing football where would you be?
Adam: Actually I’m working right now at a chemistry lab at UBC, so I’m trying to integrate myself into environmental health possibly.
Q: If you could try another position on the field what would it be?
Adam: You have to go with quarterback. That would be one that would be fun for sure.
Q: Do you have a favourite pre-game meal?
Adam: Chicken and a carb, probably pancakes or something like that. Not the same thing every time though.
Q: Whats getting the most play in your ipod or car right now?
Adam: I like old stuff. I’m listening to a lot of The Doors right now.
Q: Do you have any game day superstitions?
Adam: Nothing too serious. Maybe I wear the same undergarments in games but I do wash them.
