Kelly Campbell rejoins Eskimos

EDMONTON — The Edmonton Eskimos announced that receiver Kelly Campbell has rejoined the team. Campbell was one of the Eskimos’ top receivers in his lone season with the club in 2008.

The 29-year-old Georgia Tech originally signed with the Eskimos as a free agent in May of 2008. Campbell returns to the CFL, after spending an injury-plagued 2009 season with the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was placed on the IR on in August, 2009 and was later released on October 20, 2009.

Campbell had 54 receptions for 1,223 yards and seven touchdowns in his only season in Green and Gold. He led CFL receivers with a 22.6 yards-per-reception average.

Prior to joining the professional ranks, Campbell was a standout receiver at Georgia Tech, holding virtually every one of the team’s receiving records. He is the Yellow Jacket career leader in receptions (195), receiving yards (2,907) and touchdown receptions (24).
