Lions linebacker Solomon Elimimian was named CFL Most Outstanding Rookie.

Despite playing limited minutes during the first weeks of the season Elimimian led his team in tackles with 77, was second in quarterback sacks with five and also recorded three tackles for a loss.

Once Elimimian established himself as a starter the Lions’ outstanding rookie developed a reputation as one of the most punishing tacklers in the entire CFL.

Elimimian’s mother Theresa and sister Elizabeth were in attendance at the awards ceremony.

“I wouldn’t have imagined this a year ago,” he said. “This definitely means alot to me.”

Elimimian received 36 first place votes.

Hamilton’s Marcus Thigpen was the East nominee.
