WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Football Club is excited to announce that the west entry service road off of Chancellor Matheson Road next to the new stadium is to be named Ken Ploen Way, in honour of the former Blue Bomber quarterback and CFL Hall of Famer.

“As our excitement continues to build in advance of our new stadium opening up in 2012, we feel it is necessary that we carry important pieces of our history with us to this new venue and there is no better way to do this than to honour Ken Ploen in this fashion,” said Blue Bomber President Jim Bell.

“Ken Ploen will always be a significant part of Blue Bomber history and will now also be a part of our future as fans of all generations will travel down Ken Ploen Way on their way to our games.”

Ploen was honoured at half time of the Blue Bombers’ home preseason game on Thursday, June 23rd and the street sign was unveiled in front of the sold-out crowd.

The Winnipeg Football Club would also like to thank the University of Manitoba for all their efforts on this initiative.
