EDMONTON — Linebacker Mark Restelli has returned to the Edmonton Eskimos, the club announced today.

Restelli who’s entering his third season with the Esks, was released by the Miami Dolphins following their 2011 training camp.

“We’re very pleased to have Mark back. He’s a versatile athlete who plays with great energy.  As always, how players are used will be coaching decisions, but Mark certainly has the potential to help us in two vital areas – defence and special teams,” said Eskimos general manager Eric Tillman.

In two seasons with the Esks, Restelli registered 74 tackles, four sacks and one forced fumble.

The Eskimos also announced the signings of free agents non-import defensive back Ludovic Kashindi and import running back John Goebel and the release of import running back Daniel Porter, import wide receiver Prechae Rodriguez, import defensive lineman Robert Henderson and import defensive back Denatay Heard.

Last year’s nominee for Most Outstanding Rookie, Porter rushed 28 times for 89 yards and 2 touchdowns in 5 games this season. He also posted three receptions for 12 yards and one touchdown.

Rodriguez recorded 8 receptions for 98 yards in 4 games after signing with the Esks on August 12..
