MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — The Toronto Argonauts announced today that the club has signed a pair of University of Montreal grads.

2011 CFL Canadian Draft pick Gregory Alexandre and Jonathan Pierre-Etienne have both inked contracts that will keep them in Double Blue through the 2014 season.

Alexandre was drafted by Toronto in the fifth round, 35th overall, in the 2011 CFL Canadian Draft after a productive four-year career at Montreal. There, he was named a QUFL All-Star each year and was a first-team all-Canadian as a junior. The defensive lineman spent all of 2011 on the Argos’ practice roster.

Pierre-Etienne was originally drafted by the B.C. Lions in the fifth round, 37th overall, in the 2009 CFL Canadian Draft.

The linebacker began his college career at Rutgers in 2005 and spent two seasons there. He transferred home, to the University of Montreal, in 2008. In 2011, he was named second-team all-Canadian after setting a school record with 10 quarterback sacks for the Carabins.
