Stamps sign McDaniel and three other receivers

CALGARY — Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that import receivers Dominique Johnson, Marquay McDaniel, Maurice Price and Fred Rouse have signed with the club. As per team policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
McDaniel, 5-foot-10 and 205 pounds, spent part of 2011 on the Stamps’ practice roster after starting the season with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He appeared in one game for the Ticats and made four catches for 60 yards. He spent parts of 2007 and 2008 with the NFL’s Denver Broncos and signed with Hamilton in May 2009.
McDaniel played in all 18 games in each of 2009 and 2010 for the Ticats and was Hamilton’s nominee for the CFL’s Most Oustanding Rookie in 2009. In 2010, McDaniel had 76 catches for 998 yards and seven touchdowns.
Johnson, 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds, signed with the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in July 2011 and was released in August. He played two seasons at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and recorded 90 receptions for 1,375 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Mustangs. Johnson started his collegiate career with UCLA and, in two seasons with the Bruins, made 59 catches for 695 yards and fivetouchdowns.
Price, 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, spent 10 weeks on the Stamps’ practice roster in 2009. After that, he spent time with the Jacksonville Sharks of the Arena Football League and the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Washington Redskins and Baltimore Ravens. Prior to his first stint with the Stamps, Price was with the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers, New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs.
Rouse, 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds, spent two weeks on the Stamps’ practice roster last season and was previously with the United Football League’s Omaha Nighthawks. He started his collegiate career at Florida State in 2005 and started with the Seminoles in the 2006 Orange Bowl against Penn State. Rouse then transferred to the University of Texas-El Paso. He spent his final two college seasons at Concordia-Selma.
