CALGARY –One day after starting quarterback Drew Tate was sidelined with an apparent shoulder injury, the Calgary Stampeders have decided to bring back Peterborough, Ont. native Brad Sinopoli.
The 24-year old QB was released by the Stampeders after attending training camp with them in June. He will join the team at practice today in Kingston, Ont.
During the pre-season, Sinopoli led the Stampeders to a win over the Eskimos, orchestrating a last-minute drive before connecting with receiver Marquay McDaniel for a touchdown.
He completed five of his eight passes for 55 yards and a touchdown.
Sinopoli was taken by the Stampeders in the fourth round (29th overall) of the 2011 CFL Draft. He spent the entire 2011 season with the club and attended the Stamps’ 2012 training camp.
Sinopoli played at the University of Ottawa for four seasons and won the 2010 Hec Crighton award as the top player in Canadian university football in 2010.
He led the country in all major passing categories including touchdowns (22), yards (2,756), yards per game (344.5) and completions (184) and established school single-season records for attempts, completions, passing yards and touchdowns.
