REGINA — The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced their defensive coaching staff for the 2013 CFL season, including the additions of Mike Sinclair and Richard Kent to the team.

MIKE SINCLAIR – ASSISTANT HEAD COACH/DEFENSIVE LINE COACH
Sinclair joins the Riders after spending the previous five seasons as Defensive Line Coach with the Montreal Alouettes, winning Grey Cups in 2009 and 2010. He joined the Al’s in 2008 after winning the NFL Europe Bowl with the Hamburg Sea Devils where he served as Defensive Line Coach.

As a player, Sinclair was drafted in the sixth round of the 1991 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks where he went on to play 11 seasons.  He earned three consecutive Pro Bowl selections and left Seattle with 73.5 career sacks, second in team history.

RICHIE HALL – DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR/LINEBACKERS COACH
Hall will return to run the Riders defence for the third consecutive season, after posting the number two ranked defence in the CFL last season and allowing the fewest points against by the Riders since 2002. Hall rejoined the Riders in 2011 after spending the 2009 and 2010 seasons as Head Coach of the Edmonton Eskimos.

Previous to his time in Edmonton, Hall was a part of the Roughriders coaching staff for 15 seasons, eight as Defensive Coordinator, and developed a reputation for fielding a top defence year after year. Before moving into his coaching role, Hall spent nine years playing in the CFL including four seasons with the Roughriders from 1988-1991. Hall is a two time Grey Cup champion, winning with the Riders in 1989 and 2007.

RICHARD KENT – DEFENSIVE BACKS COACH
Kent returns to the Riders on a full-time basis after attending 2012 Training Camp as guest coach.  He spent the last two seasons with the Omaha Nighthawks in the United Football League.

The veteran coach spent 16 seasons working at the collegiate level before moving to NFL Europe, winning World Bowl titles in 2002 and 2005.  He also served as a secondary coach for the Toronto Argonauts in 2009.

BARRON MILES – DEFENSIVE BACKS COACH
Miles returns to the Riders defensive staff after coming to Saskatchewan last season from the B.C. Lions where he spent the 2010 and 2011 seasons as a defensive and player personnel assistant. Miles made the transition into coaching after retiring from a storied 12 year playing career in the CFL.

His career began in Montreal where he spent seven seasons as a defensive back before playing his final five years with the Lions. The Nebraska grad was named a Divisional All-Star nine times and a CFL All-Star six times over the course of his playing career. Miles is a three time Grey Cup champion winning in 2002, 2006 and 2011.
