Riders sign George, release three including Patrick

REGINA –The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today they have re-signed import defensive lineman Tearrius George and have released veteran safety James Patrick, kicker Sandro DeAngelis and receiver Clay Cooke.

Financial details were not released.
George , who was eligible to be a free-agent February 15th, returns to the Riders for his third season. Last year, the Fayetteville, NC native appeared in all 18 games registering 18 defensive tackles, six quarterback sacks and one recovered fumble.

The six year CFL veteran originally entered the league in 2007 with the Calgary Stampeders. He spent the 2008 season with the Chicago Bears before returning to Calgary for 2009 and 2010. For his career, George has totaled 95 defensive tackles and 21 quarterback sacks.    

Patrick, meanwhile, is released after spending the previous five seasons with the Riders. While with the Green and White, the Tuskeege, AL native played 86 career games, registering 227 defensive tackles, 18 interceptions and two quarterback sacks.

DeAngelis joined the Riders in August and went on to play 13 regular season games and the West Semi-Final. The eight year CFL veteran connected on 30 of 39 field goal attempts last season.      

Cooke will not be invited back after spending most of last season on the practice roster as an eligible junior.
