WINNIPEG — Clarence Denmark tested the free agent waters briefly but has elected to stay in Blue and Gold, re-signing in Winnipeg Friday afternoon.
“Clarence is a solid contributor to our offence and a player who has excellent speed and still great potential. He is a quiet guy who leads by example, and we are pleased to have him continue his career in Winnipeg, said Vice-President and General Manager Joe Mack.
Denmark has spent his first two CFL seasons with the Blue Bombers.
The Jacksonville, FL. native bursted onto the scene during the 2011 season, racking up an impressive 818 yards and five touchdowns on 65 receptions in 17 games.
In 2012, Denmark saw a noticeable dip in his numbers, as the Bombers struggled with injuries at the quarterback position. Hauling in passes from Buck Pierce, Joey Elliott, Alex Brink and Justin Goltz, Denmark registered 620 yards and one TD in 17 games, registering just one 100-yard game.
Denmark also returned kicks for the Bombers, bringing back 11 kicks for 140 yards.
“The Blue Bomber organization from the top down has really embraced me and the players in our locker room, and made it an atmosphere you want to be around. Between the excitement of a new stadium, the great fans of Winnipeg, my teammates and the organization’s direction, this was the right choice for me and I’m really glad to stay a Blue Bomber,” said Denmark.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have announced that it has re-signed slotback Clarence Denmark, agreeing to terms prior to the free agency period opening today.
