EDMONTON — Marcus Henry has decided to stay with the Eskimos.

Wednesday, the Esks announced that Henry has re-signed with the team. His contract with the Green and Gold expired when free agency hit on February 15th.  The 2013 season will be Henry’s third with the Eskimos.

Henry began the 2012 campaign on the nine-game injured list and was first activated in time for the Esks’ Week 11 matchup with the Calgary Stampeders. In that game, Henry led all Esks receivers with six catches for 89 yards.

That game would set the tone for the remainder of Henry’s season, as he ended his sophomore year with 382 yards and a touchdown on 28 receptions in just nine games.

In Henry’s rookie season in 2011, he had 33 catches for 384 yards and a touchdown. He scored his first CFL touchdown in Week 5 at home against Toronto on a five-yard pass from Ricky Ray.

The Eskimos also announced the signing of import defensive back Otis Merrill. As a senior at Illinois State, Merrill registered 41 tackles, an interception and a forced fumble, earning him second-team All Missouri Valley Football Conference honours.

In three years as a Redbird, Merrill made 76 tackles and seven pass breakups over 32 games. In 2012, he spent time with the Green Bay Packers.
