REGINA — The Saskatchewan Roughriders have acquired non-import kicker Brody McKnight and a sixth round selection (49th overall) in the 2013 Draft from the Edmonton Eskimos in exchange for two fifth round selections (39th and 40th overall) in the 2013 Draft, the two teams announced Friday.

“Brody has the potential to be a very dynamic and versatile kicker in our league. We wish him the best with the Saskatchewan Roughriders ,” said Eskimos Head Coach Kavis Reed in a statement.

McKnight was traded to Edmonton from Montreal on Sept. 12, 2012 in exchange for non-import kicker Derek Schiavone and first and fourth-round selections in the 2013 CFL Canadian Draft. He dressed for three games with the green and gold.

Last season the Vancouver, BC native dressed for three regular season games for the Eskimos.

The trade marks the second deal Eskimos GM Ed Hervey completed this week, as he acquired a second-round pick (10th overall) and a third-round pick (24th overall) in the 2013 CFL Draft, in exchange for the rights to non-import defensive lineman Hasan Hazime and a second-round pick (15th overall) in the 2013 CFL Draft from the Tiger-Cats on Wednesday.
