TORONTO — The Toronto Argonauts acquired non-import linebacker Akwasi Antwi from the Calgary Stampeders today in exchange for the playing rights to non-import defensive lineman Dan Federkeil.

Commented Toronto Argonauts General Manager, Jim Barker, “Akwasi is an athletic Canadian linebacker who can play both special teams and defence. We’re excited to bring him home to Toronto.”

Antwi, a fourth round pick in the 2011 CFL Canadian Draft by Calgary, has appeared in 32 regular season games for the Stamps playing primarily on special teams with some action on defence. In his two years with the club, he has totalled 6 defensive tackles and 28 special teams tackles. Antwi was born in Toronto and played football for the Burlington Braves of the Canadian Junior Football League before suiting up for three seasons at Mount Allison University in New Brunswick.

Federkeil was originally drafted by the Argos in the 2006 CFL Canadian Draft after a standout career at the University of Calgary.  The Medican Hat, AB native never suited up for the Boatmen however, playing 26 games — starting three — with the Indianapolis Colts of the NFL before retiring in 2009.
